“The law in New York requires the following people to have a Boater Safety Certificate. Anyone who is at least 14 years of age and wishes to operate a personal watercraft (PWC).
Anyone who is at least 10 years of age, but less than 18 years old and wishes to operate a motor boat (not a PWC) without adult supervision.”
As of May 1, 2014 – “No person born on or after May first, Nineteen Hundred Ninety-Six, shall operate a mechanically propelled vessel on navigable waters of the state or any tidewaters bordering on or lying within the boundaries of Nassau and Suffolk counties ….”
